Business advisory, built into the monthly price

An accountant who already has your numbers, available when the question comes up rather than billed by the hour after the fact.

Advice you ration is advice you do not get

Most owner-managed corporations technically have access to advice. Their accountant will answer a question, and it will appear on an invoice. The predictable result is that owners save questions up, ask the big ones only, and make the small decisions alone. The small decisions are where most of the money leaks.

Hourly billing also puts the incentive in the wrong place. Nobody benefits from a quick answer.

How it works here

Unlimited questions are part of your flat monthly price. You message, and an accountant who already has your current books answers. Because the books are reconciled daily rather than annually, the answer is based on where the business actually stands, not on last year's return.

That combination is the point. Advice without current numbers is guesswork, and current numbers without advice is just reporting.

What owners actually ask

How should I pay myself this year. Can I take money out of the corporation without triggering a taxable benefit. Should this vehicle be in the company. Do I need to register for HST yet. Is this person a contractor or an employee. What will I owe if the year finishes like this. When do instalments start.

Those are the questions that come up in real businesses, and each of them has a right answer that depends on your numbers. Several are covered in depth in our guides: salary versus dividends, shareholder loan rules, incorporating versus staying a sole proprietor, and what triggers a CRA audit.

Planning through the year

Tax planning only works while the year is still open. Because the same team keeps your books and prepares your return, the planning conversation happens in the months when a decision can still change the outcome. See corporate tax planning for how that runs.

Common questions

Is business advisory billed by the hour?

No. Unlimited questions are built into the flat monthly price and answered by an accountant who already has your numbers, so there is no meter discouraging you from asking.

What kinds of questions can I ask?

How to pay yourself, whether to take money out as a shareholder loan, whether a purchase should go through the company, when HST registration or instalments begin, whether a worker is a contractor or an employee, and what you will owe if the year finishes as it is going.

Who answers?

A Canadian accountant who has your current books in front of them. Because the books are reconciled daily rather than annually, the answer reflects where the business actually stands.

Do you do financial modelling or fundraising support?

The advisory included in the monthly price covers tax and owner-compensation planning, filings, and the operating questions above. If you need dedicated CFO-level work such as fundraising support or detailed forecasting, raise it on the call so we can be clear about scope.
